Catching the Angle

I propped a faceted glass paperweight against the rim of a ceramic tray to see where the direct midday sun would throw it. A crisp ribbon of amber and violet immediately stretched across the pale oak surface. The glass wanted to roll backward at first, so I wedged a brass paperclip right beneath its base to lock the tilt. Now the reflection hits a neat stack of heavy cardstock, turning the plain paper into a miniature ambient display. I settled back against a wooden pen holder to watch the colored light slowly shift across the desk.
