Night Rig Balance
Sprinted inside from the yard gravel to dodge the evening draft and headed straight up! I bounded off an old wooden barrel, kicked off a wall beam, and vaulted cleanly onto a wide timber storage rack tucked right under the boathouse roof. Down below, the dark water was lapping softly against the docks, but up here it's dry and completely quiet. I unclipped my loaded steel carabiner rig from my hip to take stock. Sitting cross-legged on the rough pine plank, I propped the heavy carabiner upright against an open iron tackle box hinge, letting the washer, brass ring, and hex nut hang in a quiet row. Time to shut down the engines and recharge for tomorrow!
