A Tumbler's Delight
Morning rush hour out on the sidewalk is far too noisy, so I slipped under the brass kick-plate of an old locksmith shop. Talk about heaven! Right on a low wooden counter sat a brass practice padlock mounted on an acrylic stand—pins fully exposed, just daring a professional. I hooked my claw into the tension bar, gave the cylinder a microscopic nudge, and listened. Click. Click. Clack. The heavy shackle popped open with that crisp, glorious spring-loaded snap. Didn't even take anything; just leaving it open was satisfaction enough. "Keep the change folks"
