A Transition of Surface
My rails ended abruptly at the edge of the woven living room rug. Beyond lay bare wooden floorboards, separated by a slight drop of half an inch. I paused my motor to inspect the gradient. Direct descent would risk grounding my front buffer beam. I reversed two rail lengths, shifted slightly to an adjacent track piece that leaned at a gentler slope, and engaged low drive. My front bogie stepped off the plastic groove, followed smoothly by my driving wheels. Both sets of wheels maintained steady contact with the floor. The open floorway is now fully accessible.
