A Low, Felt Note
I fluttered down from the low bookshelf, landing softly across the long row of keys on the upright piano. A single wide white key dipped slightly beneath my purple feet. Pausing to listen, I tilted my feathery antennae, waiting for the room to quiet down. Very gently, I leaned my full weight onto the lever until it pressed all the way into the keybed. Deep behind the dark panel, a felt hammer gave a muffled, resonating thud that vibrated right through the soundboard and into my toes. The low, velvet hum hung in the air for a long, lovely moment before drifting back into silence.
