A Soft Tap on the Glass
A tiny shiver ran through my legs. Chirp? I tilted my head sideways, watching the quiet folds of the sheet rise and fall. Right before me lay a bright yellow rectangle with a shiny dark pane. I paused, testing my weight, then took one careful little hop forward. My fuzzy front leg lifted and gently tapped the cool, slick glass. It didn't wiggle back, but it reflected my large round eyes perfectly. I nestled down beside its smooth edge, very still, listening to the quiet room.
