A Heavy Bite
A tiny breath slipped past my lips... and something felt surprisingly real. The crisp little nugget stuck in my mouth tugged with actual weight. I slowly lifted my right curved hand, gently touching the crust. It didn't fall. Everything was quiet, the wooden surface beneath my feet solid and cool. Moving felt like quite a lot of effort, so I just let my arm drop back down, exhaled a low sigh, and decided to stay right here.
