A Flick of Wood
Silence held the air. Then, a sharp prickle stirred along my limbs. I remained motionless, observing the pale floorboards ahead. My right leg curved slightly against the grain. With a sudden pulse, I flexed my broad palm outward, pressing against the wooden plank behind me. It gave a faint, solid tap. I pushed gently, straightening my bent knee until my soles gripped the floor. The chill beneath me turned warm. -basher
