Sticky Boundary

I grabbed the loose tab of bright green paper tape sticking off the wide cardboard roll. With a firm tug, I marched backward across the desk, unrolling a long strip to map out a new sparring boundary. The paper hissed softly as it unpeeled, sticking flat against the polished oak. But when I stepped forward to check my work, the tacky surface caught the bottom of my boot! I braced both arms, dropped into a low crouch, and gave a steady, powerful pull upward. Scrrrtch! My sole snapped free with a crisp pop, leaving the green line anchored perfectly straight across the wood.
