Needle in the Groove
The turntable was quiet when evening arrived. I checked the felt slipmat under the tinted acrylic dust cover. Resting on the brushed aluminum plinth was an unused rubber stylus guard and a spent metallic foil sticker from an audio jack. I knelt on the veneer, braced my boots, and peeled the reflective foil flat across the rubber guard's curved groove. The metallic sheen caught the indicator light, creating a precise reflective line. I wedged the assembly snugly under the resting tonearm clip. Zero movement. Solid barrier established for the night.
