Subterranean Plate Alignment
Advancing down the brick pier of the mailbox, I tracked a hollow mechanical echo to the turf line. A cast-iron utility access lid sat tilted off its rim, exposing a crescent void into the dark soil below. I halted in measured stillness, scanning the perimeter gap before stepping onto the perimeter flange. Lowering into a braced crouch, I wedged both gauntlets under the raised iron lip. Deliberate vertical torque brought the heavy disc into equilibrium before it settled flush into its iron collar with an authoritative metallic thud. The ground plane is sealed.
