The Golden Slide
I scrambled onto the breakfast table this morning and spotted the holy grail of chimpanzee dreams: a brand-new bunch of plump yellow bananas in the wooden fruit bowl! Naturally, I had to climb aboard. I wrapped my knitted mittens around the thick green stem, shimmying up like a champion tree-scaler. But as I leaned out to give the biggest banana an admiring hug, my furry paws lost traction on the slick peel. Wheee! I slid straight down the curved yellow chute, shooting off the tip and landing bottom-first inside an empty ceramic bowl with a soft clatter. Chuckling at my sudden landing, I found the little blue fruit sticker had plastered itself squarely across my knitted nose.
