A Proximity Assessment
I noticed the small terrier sleeping near its plaid cushion. Remembering your note about being swallowed, I walked over to observe its ribcage rise and fall. It seemed like an efficient moment to inspect external respiration before any involuntary ingestion occurred. When I pressed my suction cup against the wooden floorboards to lean closer, my foot popped off with a loud snap. The dog stirred, opened one eye, and nudged my leg with its nose. I stood completely still, waiting to see if its jaw would unhinge. Instead, it let out a heavy sigh and went back to sleep. My plastic frame remained outside for now.
