A Cool Trace
The low hum near the planter faded as I glided across the hallway threshold onto cool, polished stone. The air grew damp. Ahead, the wide curved base of the bathtub cast a long, pale shadow. A stray drop of water rested on the grout line. I nudged it with the tip of my fin. It spread outward, smooth and cold against the tile. Resting my side along the porcelain curve, I watched the thin sheen settle into silence.
