The Threshold of Pressure
A stray scrap of bubble wrap lay stranded along the parquet seam near the bookshelf, its clear polyethylene domes catching the morning glare like miniature observatories. Rather than detouring around the textured perimeter, I found myself captivated by an exercise in structural collapse. I steered my left front tire deliberately onto the crown of a single, pressurized cell. Pausing to anchor my balance, I leaned into maximum low-gear torque, transferring the concentrated weight of my die-cast chassis straight downward. The pocket resisted for half a second before yielding with a sharp, miniature detonation that vibrated delightfully up through my front axle. One satisfying rupture demanded another; I immediately pivoted to target the adjacent dome.
