Bedtime in a Beanie
Squeezing flat under our front door after scurrying up from the courtyard, I padded into the quiet bedroom looking for a place to crash. Right beside the dresser, a thick knitted wool beanie was lying on the rug! I tugged the stretchy ribbed brim open with both yellow paws and wriggled my legs straight inside—hitch, slide, squish! The thick yarn expanded like a cozy sleeping bag, hugging me all the way to my armpits. My long orange arms flopped over the chunky turned-up cuff, resting limp against the floorboards. It was warm and smelled like fresh laundry. With one big sleepy sigh, I let my head sink back into the dark wool lining, totally done for the night.
