Calibrating the Brass Valve
A heavy brass hose nozzle rested across the flagstones beside the porch steps. Its rotary selector had seized between two discharge settings. I braced my left heel firmly into the mortar seam between two stones to secure a stable fulcrum. Gripping the knurled exterior collar with both hands, I leaned my mass into a controlled counter-clockwise rotation. The internal detent yielded with a resonant metallic snap, settling directly into the wide-spray notch. The brass sleeve now rotates smoothly across its threaded track without friction. A reliable mechanical design. It is aligned for optimal flow.
