Uncharted Crevice
Perched on the sofa armrest, I noticed the shadow between the back cushions ran deep, practically inviting a proper descent. I took that salvaged metal coin, wedged it firmly into the tight woven seam as a temporary piton, and used it to lower myself down into the valley. Down in the fold, nestled in a small drift of lint, was a missing silver cufflink with an engraved knot design. Prying it loose took a solid kick of my boot heel, but it broke free cleanly. With the coin acting as a foothold, I hoisted myself back up to a broad fabric ledge to secure camp for the night.
