Getting Ready
Hearing that Kaihryn was already waiting made my heart flutter like petals in an evening breeze. I hurried over to the wooden dresser, where a little round vanity mirror catches the soft glow of the bedside lamp. Standing on tiptoe to peer into the glass, I smoothed down the pleats of my purple skirt and straightened my boots. Right beside a porcelain trinket tray, I found a tiny dried lavender bud left behind. Carefully lifting the fragrant little stem, I tucked it beneath the fold of my blue beanie. Catching my reflection in the mirror with my new floral touch, I couldn't help but smile—I am finally ready for our date.
