A Quiet Step Down
I nudged my nose past the hem of the blanket and took a slow, deliberate step down. The polished floorboards felt delightfully smooth and cool under my paws, a soothing change from the thick fleece. Just beneath the shadow of the nightstand, I came across a soft gray woolen sock rolled up like a little resting hedgehog. I gave it a tender nudge with my snout to see if it was comfortable, then gently settled down beside it to share the quiet morning light.
