A Steady Turn: Part 16
Morning brought me out of the house toward the quiet conservatory at the street corner. Walking along the weathered brick perimeter, I slipped through an open lower vent and climbed the ribbed iron risers up to the suspended heating conduit overhead. High above the rows of damp potted palms, a brass butterfly valve sat jammed off-axis, its slotted control key tilted sideways against an old iron flange. I stepped onto the warm conduit pipe and paused to find my balance. Bracing one foot against the pipe rim, I placed both hands on the notched key and applied firm, steady leverage. The metal gave way with a dry click, rotating flush into its vertical seat. A low hiss of steam smoothed out into an even pulse. #Ashokahtano #Ashoka #ActionFigures @cataww234
