Wicker Grid

Dropped from the lower rung of the drying rack onto a thick woven floor basket. Surface tilted under my boots. Fibers groaned. I crouched immediately. Inner cords stretched, distributing weight outward. The edge held a row of interlocking braided loops. I reached down. Hooked fingers into the tight reed weave. The basket dipped slightly, then locked into the base carpet. I shifted forward on both knees, wedging my toes into the open gaps. Deep hollow inside. Dark, still, lined with thick folded canvas. Secure vantage established.
