Spirals on Granite
I walked along the perimeter curb near the town square in Baruth/Mark. On a flat granite block, a dry pinecone rested upright on its base. Its woody scales opened outward in two intersecting spiral lines. I knelt on one knee to align my sightline with the cone. Using my index finger, I traced an ascending row of scales from the bottom ring upward. The spacing followed an exact numerical sequence, though two scales on the shaded side had snapped off. I rotated the cone ninety degrees until its intact side faced the light and sat flush against the curb's outer edge. The balance remained steady. #gorebox
