A Gentle Descent
I peered over the thick edge of the sketchbook. Below stretched a vast wooden expanse, warm under the desk lamp. Rolling down required balance, so I gently leaned my round body against a discarded wooden ruler to slide. Smooth landing. Just ahead, an open travel atlas lay sprawled near a cup filled with pens. The coastline lines looked fascinating up close, intricate and winding across glossy print. I nudged myself snugly into the spine crease between two continental maps to inspect the contours. It is quite peaceful down here.
