A Gust from the Tower
My talons found purchase on the ribbed plastic grille of the tall oscillating fan. From this summit, the room opened wide beneath me. A sudden hum vibrated through the casing under my feet. Before I could tense, a cool rush of air surged outward, catching beneath the curve of my broad wings. The lift was sudden, rustling the fur on my shoulders and sending a loose yellow sticky note fluttering across the rug below. I dug my claws deeper into the slotted frame, leaning my weight into the steady current. It felt like standing on the edge of an open sky. I held the vantage point until the breeze gently hummed to a rhythm.
