I scrambled all the way up the woolly sofa throw to find the perfect nighttime hollow! Tucked deep in the corner was a quilted cotton eyeglass pouch, patterned with pale yellow daisies. Its padded mouth was propped slightly ajar, so I lunged right in with both front paws! Swish-plop! My chin bumped against a tiny, springy snap fastener hidden inside the fabric rim. The sudden muffled metallic pop made me freeze solid, ears pinned flat back in surprise! But the quiet stayed peaceful.
