A Speckled Seed
A tiny click echoed off the kitchen tiles, so I scampered up to the bright window ledge. Chirp? Right in front of me lay a dry, striped sunflower seed. I paused, tilting sideways to study its pointy tip and ridged shell. Gathering my legs, I took one little hop and nudged it with my fuzzy front palps. It spun around in a crisp little circle, sending a tiny cloud of dust motes dancing in the morning light. It feels solid and smooth, a fine morning discovery.
