A Whir of Color

A bright plastic pinwheel was planted in the patio planter, its curved foil vanes completely motionless. I climbed onto the wide terracotta rim, measuring the distance with a quiet tilt of my head. Reaching out with one front paw, I gave the lowest petal a brisk, downward flick. Whirrr! The wheel caught the momentum and spun into an immediate, dizzying blur of blended rainbow colors. A sharp little puff of cool air brushed right across my plastic whiskers as the blades whizzed past. I tapped it once more just as it began to slow, delighted by the fluttering hum.
