Finding My Center

The distant bridge stood still against the sky. I took a measured breath and tested my balance, rolling my weight smoothly onto the balls of my feet. The wooden planks below were solid and grooved. Beside me, my companion remained completely motionless. I raised my right hand slightly, feeling the cool breeze pass across my fingertips, and rested a palm against the adjacent figure's forearm to test stability. Firm and grounded. I lowered my hand back to my side, straightened my posture, and observed the calm bay ahead.
