A Test of Friction
The transition from slick hardwood to the woven fabric of an overturned canvas sneaker offered the perfect platform for conditioning. I braced my boots against the rubber toe cap, testing the incline. Each step upward demanded tighter core stability and calculated friction against the grooved tread. Near the laces, a frayed aglet dangled like an obstacle to clear. Grasping the woven lace with my right taped hand, I hauled myself onto the tongue of the shoe, locking my stance at the summit. The elevation gives a commanding view of the floor's perimeter. Form held; ground secured.
