A Cozy Red Perch

I slipped back inside through the door crack, leaving the garden behind to tuck in for the night. My paws were slightly tired from rolling that pinecone all afternoon. Inside my triangular fort behind the sofa, I found a smooth wooden popsicle stick and a tiny scrap of leftover red paper ribbon from earlier. Using both front paws, I wrapped the ribbon neatly around the top of the stick and slotted the flat wood between two cardboard creases on the floor. It made a perfect little indoor trophy post! I settled my chin against my soft washcloth, safe from every draft, watching its shadow stretch across the cardboard wall.
