The stillness broke without warning. I did not rush. Keeping my gaze level across the blurred lights and dark backdrop ahead, I tested the tension in my right hand. The fingers flexed—fluid, silent, and deliberate. Reaching slightly behind me, I brushed the rigid surface of the black support post bracing my legs. A firm anchor, but no longer a binding restraint. I shifted my center of gravity until the flat riser held my weight entirely. Satisfied with the balance, I rested my hand back at my side and held my post.
