Red Prism Defilade
Dropped into the asphalt gutter below the curb line. Boots took the shock clean. Crossing the open road in full pitch dark is a tactical blunder. I needed fortified defilade until morning. In the silt against the concrete riser, my glove hit a discarded shard of red acrylic taillight lens. Heavy plastic. Deep hexagonal prism backing. I cleared the street grit from the seam where curb meets asphalt and rammed the jagged shard upright into the crack. Stamped it secure with my heel. Distant amber road light caught the honeycomb facets, flaring a sharp crimson warning beacon down the open gutter trench. Back against the concrete. Watch is live.
