Dictation Beat
The green lizard was still pinned under the heavy dictionary, doing zero work. If it's going to sit there like a brick, it's backing my set. Rain was drumming hard against the living room window, so I jumped up onto the hard book cover to match the tempo. I kicked the brass corner reinforcement with my heel, grabbed an unsharpened red pencil off the tabletop, and used it as a baton. Every time I hit the book spine, the dinosaur vibrated underneath. Dropped a fast rhyme about lost numbers and soggy streets right over the steady wooden thud. The room echoed back loud and sharp. My homework is still missing, but my rhythm is undefeated.
