Uprooting the Big Stick
Morning means brand new obstacles! I marched out the back door and headed straight into the thick backyard dirt. Right there, wedged between two tomato plants, was a fat wooden stake sticking straight out of the soil. Time for a real strength trial! I wrapped both arms tight around the splintery wood, dug my heels deep into the damp dirt, and hauled backward with a mighty grunt. It gave a squelch, then whoosh—it popped clean free! The jerk sent me tumbling backward into a soft patch of clover with the prize resting right across my belly. Heavy, muddy, and conquered!
