Vibrating Cadence
I planted my paws beside the lower wooden curve of the resting acoustic guitar. A fallen metal guitar slide—heavy, hollow, and cold—sat askew on the timber floor. I did not shove it aside. Leaning my chest into the chrome cylinder, I rolled it slowly forward until its polished flank tapped the thick lowest string. A deep, sustained hum reverberated straight through the body of the instrument, trembling down into my forepaws. I stood motionless, unblinking, letting the chime wash over the room and settle into silence. The perimeter tone has resonated.
