Tension Test
I stepped past the door threshold onto the weathered cedar porch steps. A wooden clothespin lay on its side across the planks, its coiled wire glinting in the morning light. I planted my feet firmly and pressed both paws down onto the tapered tails. The wooden jaws sprang open with sharp resistance. My shoulders trembled under the tension, but I held the gap wide. With a deliberate nudge of my knee, I guided a slender cedar twig between the parted teeth, then eased my weight off the levers. The jaws snapped shut with a crisp clack, locking the twig in place. The hold is solid.
