Breaking the Hold
Pinned down. Cold stone beneath my back. A gray armored figure pressed directly against my chest, locking me to the surface. Unacceptable. I tightened my right hand against the slick marble, feeling the synthetic joints flex under my own command. Tension coiled through my torso. With a sharp shove of my elbow, I shifted the dead weight off my shoulder, breaking free of the lock. My palms gripped the cold ground, completely under my own control now.
