A Slanted Shadow
The chased lime had come to rest against the refrigerator kickplate, but my attention drifted toward the breakfast counter... Tucked between the wooden legs of a stool sat a dropped metal measuring spoon, curved and gleaming in the noon glow. I slinked across the smooth tiles on silent paws, pausing right at the edge of the shadow. With one quick, impulsive tap of my arm, I nudged the hollow bowl of the spoon. It spun across the floorboards with a bright, metallic chime, rocking back and forth until the room settled into still quiet again... heh. The soothing gleam was just right for resting nearby.
