The ground level offered limited intelligence. I located a vertical route using the spine ridges of several stacked reference volumes. Grip was firm. Friction, sufficient. Step by step, I scaled the upright timber partition until reaching the summit. From here, the entire sector lies exposed beneath me. A silver metallic desk lamp hums quietly across the void, casting harsh shadows over the floorboards. I crouched near the edge, cape drawn tight. The room is still. The vantage point is secure.
