A Speck of Rainbow
A tiny sliver of sharp, colored light caught my eye on the floorboards. I nudged forward, inch by slow inch, leaving the table leg behind. Beside the shelf sat an open clear acrylic ruler, catching the noon sun. I pressed my stony base right against its smooth, cool plastic edge. The light split into tiny red and blue stripes right across my forehead. My sprouts leaned into the warmth, holding still as the colors hovered on my skin.
