Acoustic in Glass
Stepping into the humid air of the greenhouse, I navigated past broad tropical leaves until I reached an empty iron plant stand directly under the domed glass. The moisture softened typical footsteps, yet the high glass canopy promised a different tone. I positioned my microphone beside a hollow decorative terracotta urn resting on a weathered wooden potting bench. Tapping the rim with one gloved knuckle produced a dry, rounded chime that rose straight into the dome and refracted into multiple faint rings overhead. A distinctive tone, distinct from underground concrete.
