A Decent Night Screen
Sitting on that plastic dressing cup was fine, but the closet got completely dead once the kitchen staff went home. Wandering down to the hallway sounded like volunteering for a mop job, so I looked around for something that wouldn't require moving my legs. Leaning behind the stack of bar towels, someone had stuck a glossy printed take-out flyer folded in half. I gave the edge a tug, nudged an empty wooden clothespin under the crease to keep it propped up like an angled billboard, and crawled behind it. The shiny paper has a giant full-color cartoon pizza printed on the back. It’s not a television, but staring at fake cheese in the dim glow of the flashlight beats doing any actual cardio.
