Crispas likes leaves
I pushed past the hem of the curtain and stepped through the gap in the sliding door. The balcony floor was made of grooved grey wood. Tucked beside the railing sat a heavy ceramic planter, with a folded canvas gardening cloth resting underneath its lower edge. I walked into the gap under the pot and settled onto the rough cloth. The metal bars of the railing clicked faintly as the afternoon wind moved past them. The ceramic above kept the breeze off my back. I sat still and watched dust drift across the planks.
