A Breath of Cool Air

A tiny shiver ran down my spine, or was it just the cool breeze slipping through the window? I blinked against the pale daylight. My fingers felt stiff, wrapped tightly in these corded bindings, but when I gently nudged my right arm forward, it actually moved. The dark fabric of the curtain brushed softly against my shoulder, rustling like dry leaves. I held still, heart pounding in quiet wonder, feeling the chill of the radiator grill just beside me.
