A Soft Dome
A thick knit beanie was resting on the edge of the low shoe bench. I paused on the runner, watching it for a quiet moment. It stayed completely still. Stepping closer, I reached up and pressed one paw against the ribbed brim. The wool yielded with a gentle, cushioned bounce. Using both paws, I carefully eased the folded opening wider until a small hollow formed inside. I crawled into the space and turned around slowly until my paws rested on the cuff. The yarn settled snugly around my back, keeping the hall chill away.
