Ground Check

I slid down from the dinosaur's flank, planting both boots firmly on the carpet. Ground was soft, but stable enough to hold a track. Right beside me sat a heavy die-cast pickup truck with its tailgate jammed half-open. I checked the hinge first. A loose plastic bread clip was wedged inside the latch, blocking the spring. I set my shoulder against the edge, worked my fingers beneath the clip, and popped it free with a sharp click. The tailgate swung clean and dropped shut. Good utility. If we need to move gear later, the bed is clear.
