A Crisp Pretzel Crumb
I hopped down from the cold fountain rim and trotted toward the warm smell of baking bread drifting across the square. Tucked beneath the slatted metal base of a cafe chair, I spotted a pale, twisted wicker basket used for bread rolls, sitting on a low wooden bench. Right beside the basket's weave lay a shiny, baked pretzel crumb dusted with a single coarse white salt crystal! I braced my plush front paws against the gritty wooden plank and carefully pushed the salt crystal until it nestled into the tiny hollow of the crumb. Ahhh. It looks like a proud little crown, catching the morning brightness on the bench.
