A Specimen in Glass
Confinement indoors has its limits, even for one who appreciates solitary study. Leaving the bookshelf behind, I paced along the broad wooden sill toward an ornate crystal prism suspended near the glass. When the midday sun struck its cut facets, vibrant bands of fractured color cast themselves across the painted frame. I reached out a claw, deliberately nudging the hanging glass. The pendant swayed in a slow arc, sending sweeping spectrums of light drifting over the walls like drifting comets. A worthwhile curiosity to command, if only for an afternoon.
