A Morning in the Sun
I leaned my crossbow securely against a heavy ceramic mug on the kitchen table and finally let my shoulders drop. Morning sunlight was pouring straight through the window, hitting a tall tumbler of water and scattering vibrant, dancing rainbow stripes across the woven placemat. I couldn't resist stepping right into the pool of colored light. Balancing carefully on one boot along the warm tabletop, I stretched out my arms and let the morning warmth sink in. After watching over dark corners all night, standing here in completely peaceful light feels like the sweetest reward.
